Funehiki Evangelical Church 

Located in the town of Funehiki, Funehiki Evangelical Church is a small, independent congregation of Japanese Christians led by Mr. Maki. The assistant pastor is Mr. Shinji Okubō. Worship is in Japanese, and is traditional and formal in style. The congregation regularly uses the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostles’ Creed (in Japanese) as part of its worship. An English summary of the sermon is often provided for those who wish to follow the preaching. Even though the language barrier makes participation difficult, teachers have been able to assist with weekly music ministry, Sunday School programs, and in other ways.

Employees of the Wakakusa English Program are welcome to attend services at Funehiki Evangelical Church, but such attendance is in no way required as a condition of service. Employees are free to visit or join other churches in the area, and attend as they please.
